The short version: ScaffDocs uses secure cloud infrastructure (Google Firebase) to store your account and documents. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
1. Who we are
ScaffDocs is a scaffolding management application developed and operated by ScaffDocs. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at info@scaffdocs.co.uk.
2. What data we collect
ScaffDocs collects the following information when you use the app:
- Account information — your name and email address, collected when you register or sign in via Google Sign-In or email/password.
- Company information — company name, address, contact details and logo, provided by you during setup.
- Scaffolding documents — risk assessments, inspection reports, handover certificates, timesheets, invoices and safe start briefing records that you create within the app.
- Photos — images you capture or upload using the camera or gallery for use in documents and company profiles.
- Device identifiers — used by Firebase for authentication and licence verification.
3. Camera permission
ScaffDocs requests access to your device camera to allow you to photograph scaffolding structures and upload a company logo. Photos are used only within the app and stored securely in your account. We do not access your camera at any other time.
4. How we use your data
Your data is used exclusively to provide the ScaffDocs service:
- To authenticate your account and verify your licence
- To store and retrieve your scaffolding documents
- To generate PDF reports for sharing with clients and colleagues
- To maintain the security and integrity of the service
We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
5. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, including Firebase Authentication and Firestore, hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest. Google's data centres comply with ISO 27001, SOC 2 and other international security standards.
6. PDF documents and sharing
When you export a document and share it via email, WhatsApp or any other method, that document is shared using your device's own sharing functionality. We have no visibility of who you share documents with or how they are used after leaving the app.
7. App store purchases
Payments are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Payment data is governed by Google's and Apple's respective privacy policies.
8. Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time — see our Account Deletion page for instructions. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@scaffdocs.co.uk.
10. Children's privacy
ScaffDocs is intended for use by scaffolding professionals aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 18.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
